Music and Life

A part in the movie, Bowling for Columbine, we have been watching in EN 111 recently tried to blame kid’s violent behavior on music.  That music being mainly from Marilyn Manson. He is quite different and rocks out to some interesting hard core  music, but he is honestly not the one to blame. I find it pretty outrageous that they would target him just because he is a little different. As said in the video, they didn’t even consider what the president was doing when he was bombing other countries causing many fatalities. Music is a release of frustrations and anger not something that causes it. I could see if Marilyn Manson was going out and shooting up schools but he wasn’t. All he was doing was expressing his emotions through music, and he became a target for that. Many people, young and old, listen to soft rock, hard rock, country, all different types of music, and we don’t see them going out and killing the person next to them. Music does have influences on children but not to the extent of taking someones life. The community in the video needed to open its eyes and see what was going on around it. Why not put partial blame on the parents? It is from them that children learn many of their qualities. That is one thing that should have been questioned in the movie before pointing the finger at someone who probably has never even talked to the children that held their schoolmates at gun point.
